Care & Cleaning
Because beautiful things deserve gentle care
-
If something spills, start by carefully lifting away any residue using a spoon or dull spatula without pressing it deeper into the fibres. Then blot the area with a clean kitchen cloth or paper towel to absorb as much moisture as possible.
Always blot, never rub, as rubbing can push the stain further in or damage the weave. Let the area dry naturally before walking over it again. -
Avoid bleach, solvents, and chemical cleaners. These can harm natural fibres or alter the colour. If you are ever unsure, it is safer to call a professional rug cleaner.
-
Vacuum regularly using a medium setting and keep the rotating brush or beater bar turned off since it can pull on the knots or yarn. This is especially important for handwoven jute and wool rugs.
You may notice some light shedding at first. This is simply extra fibre from the weaving process and will lessen over time. Continue vacuuming as usual.
If you see a loose thread, trim it gently with small scissors. Do not pull or tug it out.
-
Handmade rugs have natural character. Subtle colour shifts, shading, and texture variations are all part of their beauty. Wool’s natural sheen reflects light differently depending on the direction of the pile, giving your rug a dynamic, living look.
-
Natural dyes are chosen for their durability, but strong sunlight can still cause fading over time. If your rug sits in a bright spot, rotate it every few months so it wears and fades evenly.
-
If a pet accident happens, especially with urine, act quickly since the acid can cause permanent light patches. Blot the area and contact a professional cleaner for the best advice.
