Baoli means stepwell — the stepped water tanks built across northern and western India. The border repeats that stepped profile around all four sides of the rug. The centre is left plain, so the pattern sits as a frame rather than covering the surface.
Jute is a coarse plant fibre, so the olive sits slightly uneven rather than as a flat block of colour, and the rug feels firm and textured underfoot.
