A handwoven flatweave in warm brown with a single fine line in soft pink running across it.
Lakir means line, and gulabi means pink. The pink is the only colour in the rug that isn’t drawn from the wool’s own range of browns, which is why one thin stripe changes the whole thing. The brown base is not one flat colour either: hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, so the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash, and it is the clearest sign a rug was spun and dyed by hand rather than by machine.
