━━━ THE COLLECTION
Our jute rugs
A handwoven jute flatweave with a stepped border in dusty pink around an open natural jute centre.
Baoli means stepwell — the stepped water tanks built across northern and western India. Gulabi means pink. The border repeats that stepped profile around all four sides of the rug, and the centre is left plain, so the pattern sits as a frame rather than covering the surface.
Jute is a coarse plant fibre with a warm brown cast of its own, which pulls the pink towards a dusty, earthy tone rather than leaving it clean and bright. The rug feels firm and textured underfoot.
Material: 90% jute, 10% cotton
Technique: Handwoven flatweave, reversible
Origin: India
Suitable for: Living room, bedroom, dining area
Care: Vacuum regularly, dry clean only, keep dry
Underlay: Recommended on hard floors
Sizes not currently in stock can be woven to order — allow 8 to 10 weeks.
Made in small batches by artisan weavers in India. Because each rug is handmade, slight variations in size (approximately ±5 cm), tone and weave will occur.

A handwoven jute flatweave in muted blue, with no pattern.
Saad means plain, and neel means blue. With nothing woven into the surface, the texture of the jute is what you see: a visible weave, slightly ridged, with the strands of the fibre reading individually up close. Colour variation shows more on a plain rug than a patterned one — jute is coarse and takes dye unevenly, so the blue shifts slightly from one part of the rug to another.
The rug feels firm and textured underfoot.

A handwoven jute flatweave patterned with rows of half-circles in olive green on a natural jute ground.
Ardh means half. Each shape is half a circle, and they alternate direction along every row — one curving up, the next curving down. The rows sit close together, so the pattern covers the whole rug rather than sitting as a motif on an open ground.

A handwoven jute flatweave with a grid of palm-leaf motifs in natural jute on a dusty pink ground.
Taad means palm. Each leaf sits inside its own diamond, with a central spine and chevrons branching off it, and the diamonds tile edge to edge across the whole rug. The motif is left in the natural colour of the jute, so the pattern is the undyed fibre showing through the pink.
The colour shifts slightly from one part of the rug to another, and the rug feels firm and textured underfoot.

Our jute runners
A handwoven jute runner patterned with rows of half-circles in dusty pink on a natural jute ground.
Ardh means half, and gulabi means pink. Each shape is half a circle, and they alternate direction along every row — one curving up, the next curving down. On a runner the rows sit across the narrow width, so the pattern repeats down the length rather than spreading in both directions.
Jute is a coarse plant fibre with a warm brown cast of its own, which pulls the pink towards a dusty, earthy tone rather than leaving it clean and bright. The runner feels firm and textured underfoot.

Origin: India
Suitable for: Hallway, kitchen, bedside, narrow spaces
Care: Vacuum regularly, dry clean only, keep dry
Underlay: Recommended on hard floors

Fits a calm interior
The sand tones and soft colours of our jute rugs suit japandi interiors and other quiet living styles.

Jute doesn't like water. Regular vacuuming is enough. Treat spills immediately with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Read more on our care page.
━━━ QUESTIONS
Frequently asked
-
Jute feels firmer than wool, with a natural, slightly coarse texture. Our jute rugs are woven with a small share of cotton, which makes them more supple.
-
Yes. Jute is strong and suited to busy areas. Keep the rug dry — jute doesn't handle moisture well.
-
Our jute rugs come in 140 × 200, 160 × 230 and 200 × 300 cm. Runners come in narrower sizes for the hallway or kitchen.
