NATURAL FIBRE · HANDWOVEN IN INDIA
Wool Rugs
A wool rug brings softness and warmth to your interior. Wool is a natural fibre that feels comfortable underfoot, insulates well, and lasts for years. Our wool rugs are handwoven in small batches by skilled artisans in India.
━━━ THE COLLECTION
Our wool rugs
A handwoven flatweave in a grid of squares in deep blue, white and terracotta.
Varga means square. The squares are set in a regular grid across the rug, with the three colours alternating between them. The grid is not perfectly even — squares vary slightly in size, because the pattern is counted by hand at the loom rather than set by a machine.
Material: 75% wool, 25% cotton
Technique: Handwoven flatweave, reversible
Origin: India
Suitable for: Living room, bedroom, dining area
Care: Vacuum weekly with suction only, spot clean with cool water
Underlay: Recommended on hard floors
Sizes not currently in stock can be woven to order — allow 8 to 10 weeks.
Made in small batches by artisan weavers in India. Because each rug is handmade, slight variations in size (approximately ±5 cm), tone and weave will occur.

A handwoven flatweave in deep blue with terracotta lines and panels of fine blue-and-white pinstripe.
Raah means path. The stripes run down the length of the rug in a symmetrical arrangement: a plain blue centre, a pair of narrow terracotta lines on either side of it, then a broad panel of fine blue-and-white pinstripes towards each edge, closing with plain blue at the sides. The terracotta is the only warm colour in the rug and it is used sparingly — four narrow lines in total.

A handwoven flatweave in deep brown with a lighter edge and two fine blue lines.
Rekha means line and do means two. Two narrow blue lines run parallel across the rug, with a lighter band along the edge and brown across the rest. The brown is not one flat colour: hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, so the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash.
Material: 80% wool, 20% cotton
Technique: Handwoven flatweave, reversible
Origin: India
Suitable for: Living room, dining area, hallway, bedroom
Care: Vacuum weekly with suction only, spot clean with cool water
Underlay: Recommended on hard floors

A handwoven flatweave in soft pink with a single fine line in earthy brown running across it.
Lakir means line, and mitti means earth. The pink is the field and the brown is the interruption, so the rug reads lighter across a room while the line still holds it together. Hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, and pink shows this more openly than brown does — the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash, and it is the clearest sign a rug was spun and dyed by hand rather than by machine.

A handwoven flatweave in warm brown with a single fine line in soft pink running across it.
Lakir means line, and gulabi means pink. The pink is the only colour in the rug that isn’t drawn from the wool’s own range of browns, which is why one thin stripe changes the whole thing. The brown base is not one flat colour either: hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, so the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash, and it is the clearest sign a rug was spun and dyed by hand rather than by machine.

A handwoven flatweave in warm brown with a single fine line in deep blue running across it.
Lakir means line. One stripe, off-centre, and nothing else — the rug is built around that single interruption. The brown base is not one flat colour: hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, so the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash, and it is the clearest sign a rug was spun and dyed by hand rather than by machine.

A handwoven flatweave in bands of warm brown across a natural undyed ground.
Dhaariya means stripes, and mitti means earth. The stripes run the full width of the rug, and vary in width. Brown and the natural ground come from the same part of the wool’s range, so the two sit close together and the pattern is quiet rather than graphic.

A handwoven flatweave in bands of muted blue across a warm sand ground.
Dhaariya means stripes, and neel means blue. The stripes run the full width of the rug, and vary in width. The blue is greyed rather than bright, so it stays close to the sand in depth and the contrast between the two is low.

A handwoven flatweave in a check of blue and natural undyed wool.
Khana means compartment, and neel means blue. The squares alternate across the full rug. The check is not perfectly regular — squares vary slightly in size, because the pattern is counted by hand at the loom rather than set by a machine. Blue against undyed wool is a cool pairing that sits easily in a room with grey or white walls.

A handwoven flatweave in a check of deep red and natural undyed wool.
Khana means compartment, and laal means red. The squares alternate across the full rug. This is the strongest contrast in the range — red against undyed wool reads clearly from across a room, where the striped and single-line rugs stay quiet. The check is not perfectly regular: squares vary slightly in size, because the pattern is counted by hand at the loom rather than set by a machine.

A handwoven flatweave in bands of aubergine, dusty blue and warm brown across an ivory ground.
The bands run across the width rather than the length. They vary in width and are offset — the bands on one half of the rug do not line up with the bands on the other. All three colours are similar in depth, so the contrast between them is low.

Our wool runners
A handwoven flatweave runner in terracotta with three white stripes running down the centre.
Milan means meeting. The three stripes sit together as a single group down the middle of the runner. Each one is woven as a row of short white dashes rather than a solid line, so the terracotta shows through between them.
Material: 75% wool, 25% cotton
Technique: Handwoven flatweave, reversible
Origin: IndiaSuitable for: Hallway, bedroom, bedside, narrow spaces
Care: Vacuum weekly with suction only, spot clean with cool water

A handwoven flatweave in two lengthwise blocks, terracotta and ivory, divided by a narrow band of fine blue and ivory lines.
Seema means boundary. The two colours run the full length of the runner as solid blocks, and the banded strip sits where they meet — off-centre, closer to the terracotta side. In that strip the blue and ivory alternate as very fine lines, so up close you can pick them out and at a distance they blend into a single grey-blue line.

A handwoven flatweave runner in deep brown with a lighter panel and a single blue line.
Rekha means line and ek means one. There is one blue line in the runner, and everything else is brown and the lighter panel that runs alongside it. The brown is not one flat colour: hand-spun wool takes dye unevenly, so the tone shifts slightly from one band of weaving to the next. Weavers call this abrash.

━━━ WHY WOOL
Soft, warm, made to last
Soft and warm
Wool feels gentle underfoot and holds warmth — a natural choice for the living room and bedroom.
Naturally durable
Wool fibres spring back into shape, so a wool rug keeps looking good even in daily use. Wool also repels dirt more than most materials.
Fits a calm interior
The soft tones and subtle textures of our wool rugs suit japandi interiors and other quiet living styles.
━━━ CARE
Keeping wool beautiful
Wool is easier to keep clean than you might expect. Regular vacuuming is enough, and small spills can be blotted with a damp cloth. Read more on our care page.
━━━ QUESTIONS
Frequently asked
-
Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush. Blot spills immediately with a clean, damp cloth — don't rub. For deep cleaning, professional rug cleaning is the safest choice.
-
Yes. A flatwoven wool rug lets warmth through well. Wool also insulates, which keeps the warmth in the room.
-
A new wool rug can shed loose fibres in the first weeks. This is normal for natural wool and decreases with regular vacuuming.
-
Our wool rugs come in 140 × 200, 160 × 230 and 200 × 300 cm.

Varga means square. The squares are set in a regular grid across the rug, with terracotta carrying most of it and the blue and white breaking it up. The grid is not perfectly even — squares vary slightly in size, because the pattern is counted by hand at the loom rather than set by a machine.
